Celebrating Grandparents’ Day is more than just another obligation on a calendar. It’s an opportunity to honor the legacy of a family. Grandparents’ Day has been honored annually since 1979 when President Jimmy Carter signed it into law. This year, Grandparents’ Day falls on Sunday, September 8.

This is a great time to gather your family to partake in intergenerational activities that will have lasting benefits for everyone. For seniors, intergenerational relationships reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness, which can be a key factor of depression. For kids, these relationships can aid in the development of social skills and building respect for people older than them.
