Brookridge is a continuing care retirement community designed to provide active retirees with a gracious and comfortable lifestyle with numerous amenities, as well as the security of knowing that a healthcare continuum of care is available in the future, if needed.
Brookridge offers its 325 residents a choice of four living options:
- Active retirement for individuals and couples in apartment and garden home settings
- Assisted living for individuals and couples who need some help with everyday living activities
- A memory-enhanced residence for care of those with dementia-related disorders

WHAT IS THE HISTORY OF THRIVEMORE?
Founded in 1951, ThriveMore, formerly known as Baptist Retirement Homes of North Carolina, is one of North Carolina’s most respected providers of long-term care. With four long-term care facilities located throughout the state, ThriveMore provides all levels of care for older adults, including special programs for seniors with dementia-related disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease. ThriveMore is a not-for-profit, church-related organization that has a historical relationship with the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina.
How do I prepare to make the decision to come to the Brookridge Community?

What is the cost of services at the Brookridge community?

Are meals included with each housing option?
Apartment and garden home residents may select from two meal options, based on their individual preferences.
May family members come for overnight visits?
Yes, family members may stay with residents up to 10 days as long as residents have notified the Active Adult Director. If additional accommodations are needed during the visit, a guest house is available on campus. A fee is charged for use of the guest house.
Are pets allowed?
Residents may have small dogs and cats in some of the apartments. Dogs and cats are allowed in the garden homes. Please see your sales counselor for more details.
All pets are welcome to visit; however, current shot records must be available.
Do you offer transportation?
Yes, transportation for local outings and shopping is offered weekly at no cost to residents. Medical transportation is also provided for a fee.
What health and wellness programs does Brookridge offer?
Brookridge provides residents with the facilities and the opportunities needed to incorporate exercise and fitness into everyday life. Campus walking trails invite jogging, strolling, or power walking. Regularly scheduled classes, such as stretchersize and water aerobics, encourage socializing and healthful activity. In the state-of-the-art Water Therapy Center on campus, residents work out in the fitness room and participate in individual or group swimming in the indoor pool.
What happens if I (or my spouse) require hospitalization?
There are two major medical centers in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County area: Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and Forsyth Medical Center.
What health services do you provide?
At the Brookridge community, we know that good health and good healthcare are essential to maintaining an independent and active lifestyle. Research has shown that individuals who live in continuing care retirement communities, such as Brookridge, spend less time in hospitals, require less nursing care, and statistically live longer than the older adult population in general.
The Brookridge community offers the best comprehensive and continuous healthcare possible, beginning with preventive health services and continuing through different levels of assisting with daily living tasks, and finally to nursing care to ensure that residents receive the care they need when they need it. This program includes:
• Clinic services — Registered nurses are available at scheduled hours for consultations, screenings, and vaccinations. Most active retirees select their own physicians.
• Emergency services — Emergency alarms may be activated from your apartment home. Switchboard staff, security guards, and nurses are on duty 24 hours a day to respond.
• Lifeline service — Brookridge provides an optional 24-hour mobile monitoring service for a fee.
• Prescription drug service — Apartment and garden home residents use the pharmacy of their choice. Local delivery can be arranged.
• Therapy services — Physical, occupational, speech, and other special therapy services are available via the Prince Nursing Care Center.
• Home health services — Brookridge can assist in arranging these services as needed.
How do I apply for residency at the Brookridge community?
Entering as an Active Adult:

I like staying active every day. What activities does Brookridge offer?
Brookridge offers residents several levels of activity. The pool and fitness area are open daily for individual exercise and workouts, and regularly scheduled classes in stretching and movement dot the monthly activities calendar. Walking trails encourage biking, walking, and jogging. For residents who want a less rigorous level of activity, numerous recreational and craft activities, such as billiards and gardening, are always available. Nearby golf courses, tennis courts, and sports arenas invite individual or group participation, and sponsor both amateur and professional events that are of interest to sports enthusiasts.
What is included in the monthly fee?
Access to all amenities. Refer to amenities or call Brookridge for specific information about the services covered for each level of care.
Is there an upfront fee to enter the Brookridge community?
There is an entrance fee for the apartment and garden home options. The fee varies according to the type of garden home/apartment selected and the single- or double-occupancy option.
What financial requirements must I be prepared to meet at the time of admission?
At the time of admission, apartment and garden home resident applicants must demonstrate the ability to cover the full cost of their care through their lifetime.
